Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) in the Minky I Tkaninki Shop
- 1. What fabric dimensions does the price listed for a product refer to?
Great question about the basic unit of purchase! The price you see for our fabrics and knits depends on their availability and the ordering method:
-
For fabrics and knits available in stock from our warehouse, the price refers to 0.5 running meters (which means 50 cm in length at the full width of the bolt, usually about 150–160 cm).
-
For fabrics and knits printed especially for you on demand, the minimum purchase unit and the price listed for the product refers to 1 running meter (which means 100 cm in length at the full width of the bolt).
Detailed dimensions and units are always provided in each product description.
For other products:
-
-
- Non-woven fabric: Price refers to 1 running meter.
- Silicone fibre balls filling: Price is per 0.5 kg.
- Bias tapes, piping, ribbons: Prices refer to 0.5 or 1 running meter – this information is always given with the product.
We want ordering in our shop to be as simple and flexible for you as possible!
- 2. What is the lead time for fabrics printed on demand? (Production Time)
-
We know you’re excited to receive your dream patterns! Our fabrics and knits printed especially for your order go through a precise process. The production time, meaning the time needed for printing and preparing the material, is up to 10 business days. However, good news – we usually complete the entire printing process and prepare the material for shipping much faster, within around 4–5 business days. This is the production time before the material is shipped. It’s worth the wait for something so unique and made especially for you!
- 3. If I order a larger quantity of fabric, will I receive it in one piece?
-
Absolutely yes! When you order a larger quantity of the same pattern or color of fabric or knit, we always try to send the material as one continuous piece. For example, if you order 3 units (that is, 3 × 0.5 meters = 1.5 running meters for in-stock fabrics, or 3 × 1 meter = 3 meters for on-demand fabrics), you will receive the fabric in one piece (at the full bolt width). The only exception might be end-of-line pieces in the OUTLET section, where dimensions are pre-determined.
- 4. Can I order a "blanket-sized" piece of fabric 75×100 cm, and what is the cost?
-
Of course! Many of you sew adorable blankets, so we’re happy to help. Upon request, we can cut a piece of fabric (for in-stock fabrics sold by 0.5 meters) exactly to 75×100 cm. Importantly, the price of such a piece is the same as the standard price for 0.5 running meters. This is because this size effectively uses the same surface area as 0.5 meters at the full bolt width. Just remember to leave a note about this size change in the order comments when placing your order!
- 5. What is the estimated shipping time for an order? (For products ready to ship)
-
We work fast because we know you can’t wait! Orders containing products in stock in our warehouse (or already printed and ready to ship) are typically shipped the same or the next business day after the payment is processed. We want your package to reach you as quickly as possible! If you’ve placed and paid for an order but the status hasn’t changed for a while, please contact us – we’ll check and help!
- 6. How is the fabric printed? How does the pattern run on the bolt?
-
Great question that helps with planning your patterns! Our printed fabric and knit designs are applied along the bolt. This means the pattern runs parallel to the selvage (the fabric’s edge) along the entire length. Picture a long roll of material – the pattern stretches along that roll. This makes it easier to arrange templates, especially with directional prints.
- 7. How much silicone fibre ball filling do I need for a pillow?
-
Silicone fibre balls are a great filling! To fill a standard 40×40 cm pillow, you usually need about 250–300 grams of our fluffy silicone balls. Of course, you can use a bit more or less, depending on how firm you want your pillow to be.
- 8. Can I return or exchange goods?
-
Yes, of course! We want you to be fully satisfied with your purchases. Returns or exchanges are possible, but there is one key condition: the fabric or knit must not be pre-washed (pre-shrunk) or cut into smaller pieces by you after receiving it. The material must remain in the condition in which we sent it (as one unwashed piece). Detailed rules and procedures for returns and complaints can be found in our store regulations and in the dedicated “Returns and Complaints” section on our website – we encourage you to check them out!
- 9. Do your fabrics need crabbing (pre-shrinking) before sewing?
-
This is an important step we always recommend! Our digitally printed fabrics and knits have already undergone initial crabbing during the printing process – high temperatures fix the dyes and help stabilize the material. Although polyester fabrics are generally more dimensionally stable and our cottons are pre-shrunk, we always recommend gentle pre-washing of all fabrics and knits before cutting and sewing. A gentle wash at 30°C is enough. Why? To ensure the material won’t shrink after sewing the final product and to rinse out any potential residues from the production process. Better safe than sorry!
- 10. Are your products safe for children? Do they have certificates?
-
This is something we’re extremely proud of and always happy to talk about! The majority of our fabrics and knits are created with children in mind. Safety is our top priority. That’s why our materials, as well as the inks and dyes we use for printing, hold reputable certificates proving their high quality and safety:
- Oeko-Tex Standard 100: This certificate confirms the material is free from harmful substances that could negatively affect human health. Products with this label are safe even for infants and small children (Product Class I).
- GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): (For selected cotton materials). This certificate guarantees that the cotton comes from organic farming, and the entire production process, from harvesting to finished fabric, meets strict ecological and social standards.
We are proud to offer materials that are safe, soft, and friendly to delicate children’s skin! You can sew blankets, bedding, clothing, and accessories with full peace of mind.
- 11. Do you offer wholesale sales?
-
Yes, absolutely! We work with both individual customers and businesses. We offer wholesale sales of our fabrics and knits. If you’re interested in larger-scale purchases and would like to know our wholesale terms and price list, please contact us by email. We’d love to collaborate!
- 12. Do you sell ready-made, sewn products?
-
Our specialty is fabrics and knits – that’s what we know best! We do not sell ready-made products. However, we work with many talented customers – professional sewing workshops and skilled crafters – who create wonderful things from our fabrics. If you’re looking for someone to sew something beautiful from our materials, we’ll be happy to recommend trusted contacts!
- 13. Do you ship outside of Poland?
-
Yes, the world doesn’t end in Poland! We ship our fabrics and knits abroad. We deliver to many countries. The costs of such shipping and available payment methods in currencies other than PLN are described in detail in the “International Shipping” section of our website. We warmly welcome customers from abroad!
- 14. Is cash on delivery available?
-
Yes, we understand that some customers prefer this payment method. We offer the option to ship your order with cash on delivery. Please note that this option may involve a slightly higher delivery cost, which is standard for carriers.
- 15. What are the dimensions of fabrics in the OUTLET section?
-
The OUTLET section is a real treasure for bargain hunters! You’ll find fabrics at attractive prices there. However, these are usually end-of-bolt pieces or fabrics with pre-determined, non-standard dimensions. The dimensions of each OUTLET product are always listed in the title or detailed description of the product. Be sure to check these details before purchasing.
- 16. What are products in the OUTLET section?
-
As mentioned, the OUTLET section is a special category. You’ll find end-of-bolt pieces, last meters from a batch, or fabrics in non-standard sizes. Sometimes these may also include fabrics with very minor imperfections that don’t affect the overall usability but reduce the price (if such an imperfection exists, it’s always clearly noted in the product description). Due to their specific nature (often unique, final pieces), fabrics from this category can only be exchanged in the event of a product description discrepancy (e.g., you received a different size or type of fabric than listed).
- 17. At what temperature should fabrics be washed?
-
Proper care is key to the longevity of your projects! Both our cotton fabrics and printed fabrics (including polyester) are best washed at 30°C. This is the optimal temperature to refresh the fabric while protecting the print colours from fading and preventing excessive shrinkage (after pre-washing). Always avoid bleach and strong detergents, which can damage fibers and pigments. Gentle washing at 30°C is the best way to keep your fabrics beautiful for a long time!
- 18. Can shades of the same pattern differ between batches?
-
In fabric production, especially printed fabrics, slight differences in color shades between batches are possible. These differences are usually very subtle, around 5%, and may result from natural properties of the raw material (cotton is a natural fiber) or minor variations in printing parameters between runs. This is normal in the textile industry. To ensure all elements of your project have an identical shade, we recommend ordering the entire needed quantity of a given pattern in one order. This helps avoid minimal differences that might arise when purchasing the same pattern at long intervals.
